Basic and Advanced Bike Maintenance Sessions

We saw over 60 people of all ages take part in our maintenance sessions over the winter, and we can't thank you all enough. We'll be looking to do more of these sessions later on in the year.

Thursday 8th November 2018

Thursday 8th November saw our first ever basic bike maintenance session take place here at MK Cycles. For £15pp our customers received an intimate session on the basics of bike maintenance, as well as free coffee, cake, and hot chocolate.

This session saw 6 customers, all with different levels of knowledge and experience enjoy an evening lead by Ryan on all things bike related.

We covered the basic M check you should do on your bike each time you go on a ride, touched on brakes, changing inner tubes, taking the wheels out (front and rear) and more.

Heres what our customer had to say about it:

"Top night - great company, super hosts and very informative. I know I look like a naughty schoolboy at the back of the class but I can assure you I was paying attention 😂"

"Thanks so much guys, brilliant session, very informative and we were able to ask lots of questions, I learnt loads! Look forward to hearing about any future sessions"

"Was a great evening. Thank you for sharing your time, expertize and cake!"

"Looking forward to the advanced session! Lovely cake and coffee and thanks for the introduction session last night."

"Excellent evening at @MKcycles_Bolton inaugural bike maintenance evening. Great advice and fab hosts Ryan and Laura. The 3Cs a great success cake coffee and cycles"

Thanks to everyone who came along.

Basic and Advanced Bike Maintenance Sessions -December 2018

Advanced maintenance Session - 8th Dec Sat 1:30pm - 3:30pm

The 8th and 15th December saw the first of our advanced maintenance session take place here at MK Cycle.

Participants learned how to strip the bottom bracket, strip headset, gear indexing, bleeding hydraulic brakes and more.

Here's what a couple of them had to say...

"Thanks for the workshop yesterday. I found it very useful and it’s given me more confidence in attempting things on my bike myself, which is exactly what I needed. Please let Laura know that the flapjack was amazing and helped to fuel the battle against the wind on today’s ride! The cakes looked great too so I’ll probably have to stop by mid-ride one day to try them out too."

"Hi Ryan and Laura. Thanks for the workshop on Saturday - I really enjoyed and as a (reasonable) amateur bike maintainer I learned a lot. Definitely worth it 😊"

"Thanks for the course, really enjoyed it"

Thank you to everyone that came along.

Watch this space for more dates to be announced in 2019 for both sessions.

We are also interested in knowing if you would like to take part in ladies only sessions. If so, please let us know.

All sessions are £15 which inc, free coffee and cake (as much as you fancy) and a basic M Checksheet to take home with you.

February Bike Maintenance Session

Wave Adventure

February saw yet again, the younger generation coming through the doors of MK Cycles to learn about both the basic, and the more advanced bike maintenance.

When Graham Wood, Project Manager and Founder of WAVE Adventure approached us, we jumped at the chance to support this brilliant charity.

"Fantastic service with great tutoring. Learned a lot in a small space of time."- Joe aged 16

"Bike maintenance is fun. The helpers are very nice and I learned a lot about removing the front of a bike and bleeding brakes. I hope to do it again and learn more." - Harry, aged 12
